Today in Mrs. Valles’s science class, our students became scientists and engineers by designing and testing their own paper airplane models! ✈️ They learned that scientists use models to test ideas, make observations, and see what works. Students tested their airplanes, observed the results, and thought about how changes to their designs could affect how they flew.
Science is always more fun when we get to learn by doing! 🧪✨

Our 5th graders put their teamwork skills to the test during a fun science challenge called “Saving Fred!”🔬✨
There was just one catch… the task is impossible to complete on your own! 🤝 Students had to communicate, problem-solve, and work together to successfully save Fred.

The School Board of Highlands County is excited to launch Highlands PLUS, a brand-new way for non-enrolled and non-traditional students in our community to access high-quality district courses. Students can take as little as one course or several. Courses can be taken in person or virtually through Highlands Virtual School (HVS)! Please note that course availability varies by school.
