Brrr! 🥶 Heads up, Memorial Elementary families!
Tomorrow is going to be a chilly one. As a reminder, please ensure your child is dressed warmly and has a jacket for school tomorrow. Let's keep our patriots toasty and safe! 🧣🧤🧥
Students will continue to participate in outdoor activities when weather permits, so being dressed appropriately helps them stay comfortable, focused, and ready to learn throughout the day.

We are officially 100 days smarter on Thursday, January 22nd! To celebrate this incredible milestone and all the hard work our students have put in since the first day of school, we are hosting a special spirit day.
Check out the details below and get ready to celebrate with us!
🗓️ Event Details
When: Thursday, January 22, 2026
Who: All Students and Staff
🎨 Choose Your 100th Day Style!
We encourage students to get creative! Your child can participate by choosing one of these three fun themes:
⭐The "Centenarian" Look: Dress up like you are 100 years old! Think gray hair, glasses, cardigans, and canes.
⭐The "100 Items" Shirt: Wear a shirt decorated with 100 items. Get creative with safety pins, stickers, pom-poms, or even 100 handprints!
⭐The "Future" Look: Dress like you are from 100 years in the future! Think aliens, astronauts, or "galactic" shiny outfits.
✨ Why We Celebrate
The 100th day is a major milestone in the school year. It’s a time to reflect on how much our students have grown, practice counting to 100 in fun ways, and build our school community.
Note to Parents: Participation is optional but highly encouraged! We can’t wait to see the amazing outfits and celebrate this milestone together.

Report cards for 2nd quarter are going home today! Please be sure to check backpacks and review your child’s progress. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
Thank you for your continued support, Memorial Elementary families! 🏫💙

We are excited to announce a special $1 Hat Day at MES happening on Friday, January 16th, 2026.
This fun day is more than just a chance to show off your style - it’s a fundraiser for a great cause! All proceeds will go toward Soup Up the Arts, a project organized by the SHS Art Club to support Highlands County families in need.

Welcome back, students. We look forward to seeing your smiling faces on Tuesday, January 6th as we begin the second half of the school year. We are excited to continue our learning adventure together and wish everyone a great start to the new year.

PE was full of holiday magic as we welcomed a very special guest for Elf Training! Mrs. Owens’ VPK class was officially put to the test by Jingles, the Official Elf Trainer, to see if they have what it takes to become one of Santa’s helpers.
Elves have very important jobs, and our students had to complete a series of festive challenges to earn their certification:
🎯 Feed the Reindeer – tossing bean bags into the cornhole board
❄️ Snowball Toss – throwing snowballs at the snowflake target
🛷 Santa’s Sleigh Ride – scooter board through the obstacle course
🎁 Deliver the Presents – walking the balance beam across the “ice” to deliver a present
📦 Stack the Presents & Run with the Reindeer
Once all tasks were completed, each student received a Certified Elf name tag, and the entire class earned a special certificate from Jingles himself!
What a fun and festive time we had training our little elves in PE. We are pretty sure Santa has some new helpers ready for the North Pole! 🎅

Thank you to all the parents and students who joined us for a heartwarming holiday lunch filled with delicious food and lots of smiles! We loved celebrating the season of joy with you. ❤️

It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they decorated their unique trees. They're so proud of their work, and so are we! Check out our amazing architects and their festive masterpieces! 🎄

PE TURKEY TROT! 🦃🏃♂️🏃♀️
Friday, Nov 21st was a BIG day for our Patriots! Memorial Elementary held its very first PE Turkey Trot under Coach Riffle and Coach Hitchcock, and our students showed up READY to run! Each grade level came out during their specials time and gave it their all on the track.
🎖️ We celebrated the Top 3 Boys and Top 3 Girls in each grade level with small prizes for their awesome effort and sportsmanship.
🏅 And EVERY student who participated earned a Turkey Trot ribbon and a popsicle, thanks to our wonderful sponsors and donations that helped make this event possible.
The smiles, the encouragement, the teamwork—today was what PE is all about! ❤️💙
We can’t wait to build on this tradition. This was the first… but definitely not the last. The Turkey Trot will only get bigger and better each year!
