🎃 Pumpkin Patch Fun!
Our class had an amazing time on our field trip to the pumpkin patch! Students explored the patch, picked out their favorite pumpkins, and enjoyed a day full of fall fun. We played games, laughed with friends, and made wonderful memories together. It was the perfect way to celebrate the season!

We're thrilled to join the Florida Department of Education in celebrating Gifted Education Week! The Florida Department of Education has officially designated November 3-7, 2025, as Gifted Education Week in Florida! This is a fantastic time to recognize Florida's commitment to providing rigorous educational experiences and tailored support for our advanced learners.

Here in Highlands County, we are celebrating the incredible achievements and innovative spirit of our students. Our elementary gifted students have been exploring this year's hands-on curriculum, "The Carnival of Creativity."

Building Skills for the Future
Our students are engaging in hands-on, collaborative projects that focus on their intellectual growth and the development of critical academic skills:

STEAM & Design Challenges: Students are tackling real-world, carnival-themed STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) challenges. They are applying the engineering design process and using math and science concepts to create a variety of products.

Building Resilience: A key focus is on developing perseverance and a growth mindset. These challenges are intentionally complex, giving students a safe space to practice problem-solving, learn from setbacks, and build grit.

Innovation and Leadership: Through teamwork, students are honing their critical and creative thinking abilities, practicing leadership skills, and developing real-world problem-solving strategies.

🎃 October has been a busy and exciting month in PE! 🏃‍♂️💪

Our students have been learning all about fitness and the heart — discovering why keeping our hearts strong is so important! ❤️

We’ve been hard at work at our fitness circuit stations, focusing on cardio, agility, endurance, and strength — and our students have really been giving it their all!

Our Kindergarten friends had an absolute blast using the giant parachute 🌈, while our 3rd–5th graders have been preparing for their upcoming fitness testing in November. Meanwhile, our K–2 students have kicked off a new soccer unit ⚽, practicing their dribbling, passing, and teamwork skills.

It’s been a month full of movement, laughter, and learning — and we’re so proud of how our Patriots are growing stronger every day! 🇺🇸💥

Memorial Elementary's Kindergarten scientists had a blast and a tasty snack today exploring plant parts! We didn't just learn about the parts—we ate a whole plant! 🌱

Roots: Crunchy Carrots 🥕

Stem: Sturdy Celery

Leaves: Super Spinach 🥬

Flower: Beautiful Broccoli 🥦

Seeds: Salty Sunflower Seeds

It was a fantastic, hands-on lesson about where our food comes from! Check out our future botanists below! 👇 #KindergartenScience #MemorialElementary #LearningIsFun #EdibleEducation

📸✨ Array Hunt Fun! ✨📸
Last week in math, we’ve been learning all about arrays to help us understand multiplication — and our 3rd graders took the learning home!

I asked students to find arrays around their house (like egg cartons, window panes, or cereal boxes) and take pictures to share. 🏠🔢

They did an amazing job spotting arrays everywhere! I love seeing how excited they are to connect math to the real world. 💛

Keep up the great work, 3rd graders — you’re becoming array experts! 🌟
